GROUP 18: Rock and Roll Music
Supervisor : Mr. Vinod
TASK 3 : RESEARCH, REFLECT, FINAL PROJECT
Week 6
(09/02/2022): First Consultation Hour of Task 3
It's Week 6 consultation hour with our supervisor, Mr. Vinod, but we haven't decide which idea will we go with, so in order to move to the next step, we have to decide an idea to go. We're a step behind compared to other groups which already know in mind on what should they do.
(13/02/2022): Finalizing Idea Discussion
We conducted a meeting to discuss what kind of design we will be making; miniature band, virtual reality (stage design), tattoos, phone case, or fashion line. We also decided on what kind of things will possibly work; illustration, photography, or typography. At the end of the meeting, we got a final result of breakdown on who's working on what:
- Illustration: Devina and Haura
- Typography: Abigail and Ayaan, Hui Ying
- Photography: Lene and Hussain
(13/02/2022): Typography Design Concept I
For my personal idea, which I'll be sharing later, I was thinking of making a guitar shaped typography, so I made these sketches:
fig 1.1-1.2, my first ideas attempt, Week 6 (13/02/2022)I sent it to Ayaan and said the first one is a bit weird, and he agreed on that. As my senior, Ayaan recommended to find some typographic album arts and took some aspects in them, so I found these covers:

(15/02/2022): Typography Design Concept II
I somehow got an inspiration to do like the top left one, to show the gothic vibes of rock and roll. Thus, I got an inspiration of making this:

And for his idea, Ayaan decided to go on this album art, an album by Led Zeppelin.

From that album art, he decided to make something similar like that, so this was his sketch:

Week 7
(16/02/2022): Designs Concept (Quotes and Designs Ideas)
We have a consultation hour for Week 7 this day. Mr. Vinod gave us feedbacks to relate the craft to the rebellious nature of the culture, and find text that relates to the rebellious nature and images that match the text then work on the crafting, for example, like Hussain's (fig 1.14).
In this day, it felt so hectic and chaotic for us, because like, we only have a week left and we still haven't some crucial parts of the project like; the designs themself, and where and how to print it.
Thus, we conducted a meeting at night, and before that, we should decide what quotes / lyrics are possible to use to showcase the rebellious nature of rock and roll. Here're some of the compilations:

As the meeting ended, we agreed on making the cases design similar like Hussain's. Hussain also sent us a reference on typographic design of the case:

REFLECTION
- RESEARCH, REFLECT, FINAL PROJECT PHASE :
It's my first time creating custom phone case. It's an interesting experienced. I also experienced on making Rebel Rock and Roll themed designs, which is a fun thing to do in my opinion. It's because, I can reflect a rebel nature in the design, in other hand, I also can do and create anything I want. I feel thankful for these past 2 weeks group project. Although the time is very short and things are like squeezed into a tight schedule, I feel happy, panic, fun, struggling together with my teammates. It was a great experience.
Observation
I observe that everyone in the group have a different style of designs, from minimalist to flashy style, which add a mix of uniqueness in the final output. I observe that we're slow in progressing (but not that slow!!), because sometimes everyone (also me) is very passive.
Findings
I found out that sometimes, the design will look ok whether it's on the screen, but depending on the printer, it can printed out a little bit different of design, especially in terms of colors. I also found out that if I'm brave at speaking my thoughts and opinions in group are good, and will make the group more productive.
